Bianca Pickering, Assistant District Attorney & Public Interest Mentor
Bianca Pickering is a first-generation law school graduate from Queens, New York. Her legal journey has forced her to learn the true definition of tunnel vision. After graduating from Hofstra University with a Bachelor’s in Sociology and completing the St. John’s Ron Brown Law Prep Program, she took the LSAT and applied for law school fully expecting to start her journey. Unfortunately, she was unsuccessful in her efforts the first time around. She pivoted and went on to work at a matrimonial law firm, ensuring to use the year gap to build connections and strengthen her legal professional skills to excel as a law student when it was her time. With new experience under her belt and retaking the LSAT two more times, she reapplied. With an LSAT score of 148, her persistence and confidence glowed through her application, gaining her admission to every school she applied to, including but not limited to, the University of Connecticut, Northeastern University, and City University of New York.
In May of 2022, she received her J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law. As a law student, Bianca interned with the New York City Commission on Human Rights, the Center for Popular Democracy, Families Against Mandatory Minimums, and the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office. She was also a member of the Black Law Students Association and the Law Review. Today, Bianca is an Assistant District Attorney at the Philadelphia District Attorney’s office as a Sarita and Claire Wright Lucas Scholar. As a member of multiple organizations that understands the need to support women of color, it brings her pride to give back what she has learned to future leaders.
