
Moriah Wilkins, Attorney & Public Interest Mentor
Moriah Wilkins is a tenant-side housing attorney and an affordable housing advocate in Charlottesville, Virginia. Moriah received her Bachelors from The University of Virginia, while there she studied Foreign Affairs and Global Sustainability with a concentration in East Asia. Prior to law school, Moriah worked as a paralegal contractor with the United States Department of Justice for 3 years. In that role, she assisted federal prosecutors in the investigation and litigation of Securities and Financial Fraud cases. Moriah received her J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law. During law school Moriah interned with the Legal Aid Justice, the Massachusetts Department of Housing and Community Development, and Klein Hornig LLP, an affordable housing development transactional firm. She also did a Judicial Internship with The Honorable Donald L. Cabell of the Massachusetts Federal District Court.
Currently, Moriah is a Skadden Fellow at the Legal Aid Justice Center in Charlottesville, Virginia. Her fellowship includes engaging in direct representation of low-income tenants, collaborating, and advocating in conjunction with the Charlottesville Public Housing Association Residents (PHAR). She supports PHAR in individual tenant advocacy, public housing redevelopment efforts, and acts as general counsel. In her role as an affordable housing advocate, she advocates for affordable housing on behalf of low-income residents and those with housing subsidies to Charlottesville City staff and state legislators. Moriah’s hope is to help to address access to affordable housing and the history of racial segregation and displacement impacting Black and low-income Charlottesville area residents.
