You Are More Than Your Numbers
Danae
Founder
Our “Why”
This program was born from experience.
Our founder, Danae, applied to law school as an Afro-Dominican, immigrant woman with a 145 LSAT score and a 3.4 GPA. She was told by advisors it was impossible. But she knew her story—her grit, her hustle, and her unique perspective—mattered more than a single standardized test.
Instead of giving up, she focused on building an “immaculate” application package. She wrote compelling statements that painted a vivid picture of her resilience. Out of 15 applications, she received 12 rejections, 2 waitlists, and one “yes”—from Northeastern University, one of her top 3 choices.
She created “Beyond the Numbers” to share that playbook. We’re here to prove that you are worthy, capable, and needed in this field.
Our Mission
Our mission is to empower and guide BIPOC women into law school. We provide the mentorship, community, and strategic tools to demystify the application process, proving that every applicant is more than just their numbers.
Meet The Team
Danae
Founder & Corporate Attorney
Danae is the visionary behind “Beyond the Numbers.” As an Afro-Dominican, immigrant woman, her own pre-law journey was defined by overcoming obstacles. She applied to law school with a 145 LSAT score and a 3.4 GPA, facing advice that she wouldn’t succeed. After receiving 12 rejections and 2 waitlists, she proved that a holistic application matters by earning a ‘yes’ from one of her top-choice schools, Northeastern University.
Motivated by this success against the odds, Danae set out to create the supportive community she wished she’d had. She built “Beyond the Numbers” to help all BIPOC women demystify the process and gain admission to law school by crafting immaculate, compelling applications that tell their full story.
Her experience is both professional and personal. Prior to law school, Danae worked as a paralegal, and during law school, she clerked for both global firms and the Los Angeles Public Defender’s Office. Today, she is a Corporate Attorney at a global law firm, offering a deep well of insight, particularly into the private practice world.
Moriah
Attorney & Public Interest Mentor
Moriah Wilkins is the Public Interest Mentor for “Beyond the Numbers,” now leading the program’s workshops and document review services. Her entire career has been a testament to public service, beginning with her work as a paralegal contractor for the United States Department of Justice. She is a graduate of The University of Virginia and attended Northeastern University School of Law on a full-ride public interest scholarship, demonstrating her excellence and commitment to the field from the very beginning.
Her experience provides mentees with a vital understanding of public interest pathways. During law school, Moriah interned for the Legal Aid Justice Center, the Massachusetts Department of Housing, and a Federal District Court Judge. Today, she is a Skadden Fellow at the Legal Aid Justice Center in Charlottesville, Virginia, where she works as a tenant-side housing attorney and affordable housing advocate. Her expertise is crucial in giving mentees a comprehensive, 360-degree view of the legal profession.
